You are bending down to pick up a parcel from the floor. Suddenly, you are in excruciating pain. You cannot move (see a and b)
So:
- Don`t panic.
The cause most probably is the muscle having gone into acute spasm because it was already tense due to Body Language resulting from stress.
- If there is no handy chair or ledge to lean on, put your hands on the front of your thighs, and take the weight through them. (see c)
- Stand still. Breathe gently and rhythmically with the diaphragm. Don`t hold your breath. Just wait until the acute muscle spasm wanes, as wane it will.
- When you feel able, walk the hands up the thighs (see d)
- When you feel able, bend the knees. This will bring the spine into a more vertical position (see e)
- Straighten the knees (see f)
Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out, gently and rhythmically, all the time!
